The year in brief
Towards double capacity in Lysekil
All blasting and excavation work was carried out in preparation for construction of the vacuum distillation unit at the refinery in Lysekil. The new facility will double capacity and make the refinery self-sufficient in vacuum gas oil, which is produced by residual oil, a key raw material in the production of gasoline and diesel.
Preem Evolution Diesel+ became the first liquid fuel ever to bear the Swan eco-label. This means that the product is made of 50 percent renewable content and it is completely free of palm oil and PFAD.
Strong entry in Norway
Preem entered the Norwegian market in 2016, and by the end of the year Preem’s market share was estimated at more than five percent in the relevant segments in terms of full-year volume. Among other things, a strategically important partnership agreement was signed with the UnoX Group that gives Preem access to 154 stations for commercial traffic across the country that will sell Preem Evolution Diesel.
Towards a fossil-free Sweden
Preem joined the Haga Initiative, a network of companies that are working to reduce carbon emissions from the business sector and highlight the climate issue by showing that ambitious climate strategies create business advantages and improve profitability. Through its membership in the Haga Initiative, Preem, together with 14 other companies, has a strong platform for demonstrating how the industry is part of the solution for a fossil-free Sweden by 2030.
Coffee for SOS
A coffee campaign to benefit SOS Children’s Villages started in October. For every cup of coffee sold at its full service stations, Preem donated SEK 1 to the SOS Children’s Villages efforts in Ukraine. Together with its customers, Preem was able to donate just over SEK 500,000. The money was directed to the operation of the SOS Children’s Village in Brovary and to family-strengthening activities in Brovary and Kiev.
